His heart rests in the land of flowers - though he came from someplace else , Though he's one of florida's finest - he doesn't feel that way himself, As he sings his songs - you travel back in time, When florida was young with so much to be done, The feelings dance there in his rhyme Florida writer we all need you, There's so very much work yet we have to do, Our childen have to know - who they are and as they grow, And I really pray the come to understand, The future rests in florida writers' hands He sings ballades of the great storms - till one blew his home away, But he only shrugged his shoulders - said what will be will be, And the storms will come and go, And do what they will do, He says the trick is to rebuild it brick by brick, With the help of folks like me and you.
