We've all had that question.... what would you say if I called...??? I had fun with the lyrics. This one reached # 57 in the Country General Charts.

Listen, enjoy the vocal and guitar or piano music of David Derbes.
NOTE: I've added some piano "instrumental only" songs on my music page. They are labeled as Piano in the title. Most are located towards the bottom of the page. Hi everyone! I'm a 49 year old part-time musician/songwriter with several years of various experiences. My ultimate goal is to have some songs published and recorded. All recordings of the songs were recorded with a simple cassette tape recorder. I'll try to keep the "News" section updated as things develop.

Story behind the song
This song, like many others, just showed up in my brain one day. It was fun to write. There was fun playing with the story.
Lyrics
What Would You Say words and music David Derbes copyright 2005 daderbes@yahoo.com Verse I'm sitting here thinking about you. Deciding what I should or shouldn't do. I probably know you better than anyone but that don't mean that I know what to do. I know you're seein' someone again now. I see you with him going out in town. I'm not sure that you love him, but I don't know. And I'm here thinking by the telephone. Chorus What would you say if I called and said I loved you? Would you say that like me but can't we just be friends? Or would you say that you're glad cause you love me to and you've been waiting on me to make the move. Verse I dialed your number, crossing my fingers. To my surprise (demise) he answered your phone. I asked for you and he asked "What did I want?" And in my nervous state I said to him. Chorus Verse I heard him slam the phone down on my ear. To my delight you were on the phone. You must have heard the full conversation. I heard you kick him out of your home. Chorus
