Story behind the song
Another great lyric penned by my prolific friend, Richard Larbabie. The music came to me in one sitting. After some struggle with doubt, I decided I'd stick with what I was inspired to write, even tho it may not be deemed 'commercial'. The setting is pop AAA/ambient pop
Lyrics
Why Lord His Momma can't stop cryin' It's not like she ain't tryin' Doctor's doin' all he can to keep her boy alive But Billy's barely hangin' on Momma knows he's almost gone She tells her little angel to walk towards the light She whispers "Lord, he's in your hands" Take care of my little man And Billy if you're listenin' "I will love you for all time" Why Lord.. you gave us emotions Hatred and love potions Chances and last dances You left us in control You helped us re-invent the wheel Taught us how to care and feel Showed us life's a mystery some keep till they grow old Why Lord A soldier boy is wounded But he ain't pullin' through it Tells his pal to tell his wife he loves her very much Nearly down to his last breath His comrades eyes get soakin' wet Cos she won't get to hear it, they feel it in their gut They cry out "Lord, what is your plan" We can't seem to understand If you're really listenin' free us from the devil's clutch Why Lord.. you gave us emotions Hatred and love potions Chances and last dances You left us in control You helped us re-invent the wheel Taught us how to care and feel Showed us life's a mystery some keep till they grow old Why Lord (c) 2006, Richard Larabie/Vikki Flawith (Socan, Ascap)
