Most of my songs are written in a melodic/acoustic style of Folk Rock. All are written to glorify God - you know, ... the One who made me and you? If you stop to listen for a while, my hope is that you'll leave with something a little out of the ordinary to think about. If you do go with a fresh perspective on Christianity and who God really is, then my job is done! Bless you much for stopping by ...

Story behind the song
Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" was so powerful that I felt moved to write the crucifixion story in this song from a slightly different perspective.
Lyrics
The Love in His Eyes ? Jon A Botha ? 2006 New Zealand Verse 1: The day they brought Him to me, on the killing hill Abused and beaten with an execution bill The bruises on His face and on His back and head, Were obscured by darkening rivers of red A twisted wreath, a woven crown, Of cruel whitened thorns, Pierced His deeply troubled brow Chorus 1: Then I saw the love in His eyes As we pierced His body with cold steel spikes And I felt a pain of a different kind He forgave my deed, this man, this humble King, This brave Nazarene Verse 2: I stood and watched Him slowly, slip away from life The sun took refuge, fleeing hurriedly from sight Three hours of eerie darkness quickly filled the land You could barely see the blood stains on the sand The hillside shook, the curtain tore It occurred to me right then, His death was linked to it all Chorus 1: Then I saw the love in His eyes As we pierced His body with cold steel spikes And I felt a pain of a different kind He forgave my deed, this man, this humble King, This brave Nazarene Verse 3: In the encroaching darkness, as I close my eyes That scene is echoing down deep inside my mind Amidst the torture and the suffering caused by us The question Begs: 'Who was this Jew called Jesus?' Where is the proof of His crime? 'Cause, none of this seems right Why then, did He have to die? Chorus 2: Now I see the truth in His eyes As I pierce His body with cold steel spikes And I feel the pain of a different kind As He forgives my sin, this man, this humble King, This brave Nazarene Build: They say He's walking, they say He's talking And I heard them shout for joy: 'He's alive!' Surely it's all in vain, how can I hide my shame? I know He's dead, because I watched Him die Bridge: He's alive, He's alive!, The tomb where He lay dead Is empty now instead He's alive, He's alive!, Surely He was and is, The risen Son of Man He's alive, He's alive!, The tomb where He lay dead Is empty now instead He's alive, He's alive!, Surely He was and is, The risen Son of Man Tag: Oh, surely He was and is, The living Son of God!
