Sift one cup folk, one cup R&B, one cup blues, one tablespoon jazz. Mix in spirit of Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, and Greg Brown. Add to taste: dry humor, faith against odds, bloody heartbreak. Bake 5o-some years in hard knocks oven. Add spark of Goddess. Serve with acoustic guitar and baritone vocals.

Story behind the song
A woman a lot younger than me seemed to be interested in me. What's wrong with her? With all these young hunks around, why choose someone almost old enough to be your father? I wouldn't have given it a second thought except that, well, she was a sweety. When in doubt, write a song about it.
Lyrics
Wish I Was I wish I was, wish I was young I was young enough, young enough to make it Enough to make a fool, make a fool of myself Fool myself with you I wish I was young enough to make a fool of myself with you But even I can’t fool myself about you I may be a fool, but not enough for you Even I can’t fool myself about you Afraid you may be, you may be young May be young enough, young enough to make it Enough to make a fool, make a fool of yourself Fool yourself with me Afraid you may be young enough to make a fool of yourself with me You may be able to fool yourself about me If you’re a fool, that doesn’t mean I can be one too On the other hand I may be a fool not to fool myself about you There’s no fool like an old fool Never too young, never too old to be a fool Fool myself about you Words and Music: Bruce McKinney Copyright 2006
