Story behind the song
Had the music for quite some time. The lryrics were written with a bit of a different theme, but when I showed them to Steve, he thought it was about corporations, or whoever, becoming so integrated into peoples lives. That worked better, so reworked some of the lryics. About that same time we were considering a name for our band. One of the band names that Greg suggested was "Invasion of Souls". I really liked that name, and the idea seems to fit for this.
Lyrics
Invasion of Souls: Lyrics: John Kramps, Steve Rehfeld, Greg Garza V1: Here's how it starts, slowly break you apart, Corrupt all the innocence that remains in your heart. You will be, whatever we tell you to be. Your personal hell, you buy whatever we sell, But there's no need to worry, because you know: The first one is always free. Give us some time, and we'll control your mind, Planting the seeds, of thoughts You'd never have on your own. You've opened the door, now we're taking some more, Before you know it, We've invaded your soul. Chorus: You - You lose control We - Invade your soul But you - You don't say no As we - Invade your soul. V2: You gave us your mind, now get back into line, You don't want to stand out and be different, From everyone else do you? No more free will, You'll lie, cheat, steal, and kill Because that's what the in-crowd is doing now too. You feel the itch on your skin, like a disease breakin in, You can't defeat us, so you surrender completely, It always ends the same. Another lost soul, to line our pockets with dough, And the less that you know: The more we win this little game. Chorus Bridge: Another insignificant addition to the collection of souls. So we continue this tradition, Until one is strong enough to say no. Chorus
