Story behind the song
No particular motivation. I wrote the tune as a result of improvising to a catchy beat on my keyboard and then the lyrics just seemed to follow.
Lyrics
I Lost You Verse 1 Wea€˜d been together for as long as I can remember And every night Ia€™d serenade you on my guitar Then I went to Nashville and on a rainy night in September I reached out and became a country star I didna€™t realise what had happened to me Stars were in my eyes and I just couldna€™t see , that Chorus You dona€™t know what youa€™ve got a€˜til youa€™ve lost it You dona€™t know what youa€™ve got a€˜til youa€™ve lost it Oh you dona€™t know what youa€™ve got a€˜til youa€™ve lost it And I lost you Verse 2 Well I thought that I could have my pick of any girl in town But I was so dumb I didna€™t know which one to choose So I picked the prettiest; a beauty queen who wore a crown She was a winner but I was about to lose My head was in the clouds as I passed you by Now Ia€™m alone, tryina€™ not to cry and Chorus Bridge I didna€™t realise what had happened to me Stars were in my eyes and I just couldna€™t see , that Chorus End (repeat & fade out) Ooh I lost you babe Yeh I lost you babe
