A song about whitecollar workers.
Electric Brain Fungus is the alias used by Dan Ellison to put out solo compositions. As Dan is inspired by different things, his music reflects that and fits into a wide range of genres. Experimental, noise, progressive, comedy, and plain old rock.
Story behind the song
This song stemmed from a joking conversation I had with my two cousins where we ripped apart whitecollar workers. We would spout out lines like, "Did you check out Bev from PR on the second floor?" and "Jeez, I have a meeting at 4 and these reports are due tomorrow and I have to take my Lexus in to get washed tonight..."
It also came from my belief that whitecollar workers are fake and they spend their lives sucking up to the boss. They throw their lives away in the pursuit of money- something that doesnt' matter in the end.
It was supposed to be a simple, one minute song that I was to throw together in a few hours and it ended up being a big production task as I got new ideas and started adding them in.
Lyrics
Put on your tie and go to work,
Slave all day for that fucking jerk.
Take a break, have a smoke,
At the water cooler tell your lame ass jokes.
You're only a sheep, no need to boast,
And debate about who gets paid the most.
Send a fax, print a file,
That report's due on Friday, better stay awhile.
You've got your head shoved too far up your ass.
Drive your Beamer or Mercedes-Benz
And soup it up with cheap odds and ends.
Suck up to the boss, make him think you're a star.
Start hitting on Bev who works in HR.
Your computer crashed so what can you do?
You start driving home, it's only half past two.
Your life revolves around 9-5,
Doin' oher folks' work, man, where's your pride?
You've got your head shoved too far up your ass.
I-I can't take this workload anymore. AAHHHH. AAAAAAAHHHHH
