An outfit that transcends the limitations of thought, perception and emotion and brings to life the eternal religions of freedom, choice and originality through the elixir of Rock-n-Roll. The five member outfit, which rose from the ashes of a maverick college acoustic band, formally came together in December of 2003. The band draws apt inspiration from original masters like Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Pink Floyd, Van Halen et al. Modesty is their motto, and their ultimate goal is to stay true to their music, come what may... DESCANT is... VOX: Anand :A chance meeting with Anish, and a few jams later, this NIFT student took up the role of giving voice to Descant's hymns on a permanent basis. Has been with the band since the day it was formally launched. Takes his musical inspiration from the great Eddie Vedder of the Pearl Jam fame, Alice in Chains, and other Seattle based bands of the 90's great alternative revolution fraternity. Has been bitten bad by the Ozzy bug lately. BASS: Anish :One of the founders of the band, he is the original rockhead who along with Gaurav, gave the band its current face. Graduated from Delhi University last year, and has since been dedicated to his band and his music. Takes his inspiration from all-time greats like Pearl Jam, AIC, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Ozzy Osbourne etc. Brings in a lot of energy and versatility with his style of bass-playing, and always is a livewire when on stage. AXEMIESTERS: GAURAV : The mastermind behind the outfit, Gaurav played a crucial role in bringing the band together and giving it its distinct style and sound. Recently completing his Commerce degree from Delhi University, this 6-feeter picked up the guitar only after joining college. Has come a long way from playing second fiddle to the resident rockstar in college. Heavily influenced by Pearl Jam, also takes inspiration from masters like Nuno Bettencourt & Steve Morse. SOM : Gaurav's schoolmate, and a later addition to the band, he is not only the lead guitarist, but indeed the lead musician for the band. With a musician of his calibre and talent joining in, the band has gone from strength to strength with each show. This engineer in the making is a highpriest of Zakk Wylde, who has grown up on an overdose of Ozzy. Watch out for this southpaw ...shredds anything. DRUMS: Akshat :The latest addition to the band, this metal fanatic takes on-stage drumming to a completely new level. Currently pursuing his B.Tech from DCE, this lanky youngster has worked really hard to alter his snare-breaking drumming technique to suit the style and genre of the band. Has become another one of the Ozzy fanatics after joining the outfit. His drumming style is influenced a lot by metal bands like Judas Priest, Megadeth, Sepultura, Slipknot, Coal Chamber, Mudvayne et al.
