I have been mixing sounds for about a year and a half now. Though, I am still not very good, I admit... However, I am here to share something that I love and perhaps maybe take your ears and your mind on a journey to someplace they've never been. I am also on MySpace Music. Feel free to add me! http://www.myspace.com/transcendentalmusic

Story behind the song
A number of factors came together around the same time and the combination helped guide the song to the meaning it tries to convey. This song is supposed to be thought of as a theme in which the title suggests. "After Dark". If I walk outside, and I try to put the atmosphere into sound... this is what it could possibly sound like. This song is extremely mellow and does not change very much. However, it is this lack of change that one sees their surroundings in a different light... or maybe sees it for the first time. The beginning of the song opens up with a strong wind sound. Then an electric piano sounds. Finally (and eventually), a drumset and bass accompany the piano. The tempo of the electric piano was done at 94 bpm, whereas the percussion drumset was set at 188 bpm. I also distorted the drum set to have a more "acid/drum and bass" feel to it. Imagine yourself just walking down the street around midnight... notice the temperature of the air. Notice the wind. Notice the people, cars, places, things, events. Don't look at the whole picture. Look at the tiny things that seem insignificant. These insignificances are the building blocks of structure. You will notice that the tighter the structure is, the easier it is to identify the big picture. Instead of seeing the sidewalk with the orange glow cast upon it, concentrate on the smell of the coffeehouse down the street. Instead of weaving in and out of crowds gathering around local venues, listen to their soft footsteps, or the ambient passing of a car going by. When you are looking at the stars, experience more than just the stars. Feel with the wind carressing your cheek. Watch the trees dance in slow motion. Hear the wind whistling innocently through the leaves. Smell the fresh dew that has condensated on the blades of grass. Taste the sweetness of your favorite drink as you sit and experience this true example of life. Let the sixth sense of understanding and love for the perfection of the moment overwhelm the senses to wrap you within a trance so all that you hear, feel, taste, touch, see... not to mention understand and love... is nothing more than the music of life.
