We've used this song to close every major gig / set we've had since we wrote it. This also came out of a practice, one of our early ones as a band. Scott came up with the first couple licks, so he gets the writer's credit. I can't remember who came up with the stop time idea or the chromatic scale at the end. Actually, the chromatic thing was a joke. We'd been playing chromatic scales as warmups in jazz band and didn't really like it, so we decided to do it at the end of the song.
