Story behind the song
I make CD's of Christmas Carols and some long forgotten children's songs for my grandchildren. This song is very fun for them to sing along with. According to Traditional Folksongs and Ballads of Scotland by John Loesberg, the tune dates to "at least the 18th century or earlier"
