Story behind the song
The motivation behind the song is simple, it was always there, we just had to find it. I was messing around with a chord progression and played it for Mike. So we came up with a story line that matched the music. Michael Redmond wrote the majority of the lyrics and sang the song (as those are his specialties). He plays a mean rhythm guitar as well. We went from there. Evidently this guy in the song is having a bad life, but we hope things turn out ok for him. You'll have to check back to see...
Lyrics
Shipwrecked and heartbroke, I must be dreaming Who took this laughter away from me Here on this reef of fools oh and these lost souls No hope, mercy or prayer for a man like me Woe is me, I'm standing on this rock with these waves here crashing And no recollection of how I got here I'm a man, a man without a mission or a place I've lost so much I'm so full of fear Of being alone, forgotten, discarded Wondering what did I do to deserve such a fate as this And what did I miss to get myself shipwrecked here... Here on this reef of fools and these lost souls No hope, mercy or prayer for a man like me Shipwrecked and heartbroke, I know I'm not dreaming Who took this laughter away from me Woe is me, I'm standing on this rock with these waves here crashing And no recollection of how I got here I'm a man, a man without a mission or a place I've lost so much I'm so full of fear Of being alone, forgotten, discarded Wondering what did I do to deserve such a fate as this And what did I miss to get myself shipwrecked here...
