Daydreaming In Church
Church starts and I'm concentrating
The choir robes catch my eye
I notice they're the same color
Of that BMW I'd like to buy
Wouldn’t it be fun to get a speedboat
We could put a trailer hitch on the minivan
We can't afford either one right now
Those are dreams for a richer man
I look over at my family
My treasure on earth right next to me
Daydreaming in church, I guess I do
While I'm perched in my pew
So much to ponder
Why does my mind wander?
Like a lamb gone astray
I don't get too far away
The shepherd comes to search
And finds me daydreaming in church
The sermon is about King David
That was my favorite uncle's name
He taught me to cast a fly rod
How long has it been since I was on the lake?
Wow, has it been 5 years now?
Since the summer our girl was born
She's so small, sometimes at night I tremble
Afraid of what the world might have in store
The preacher says that David was a little man
Who became a giant in God's hand
CHORUS
I never found a place my Lord is not
I've never been so lost in thought
Daydreaming in church, I confess I do
While I'm perched here in my pew
So much to ponder
A mind has got to wander
Like a lamb gone astray
I never get too far away
The shepherd comes to search
And joins me daydreaming in church
