Bands start for many reasons: girls, drugs, free booze. Subjective Well Being merely wanted Pop Tarts.
Hi. We were Subjective Well Being, a three piece rock band from Hot Springs Village, AR. Even though we are no longer active, we are leaving this page up so that if anyone ever come across these tunes, they can still take a listen. We still check back here every once and awhile, so leave us a comment or a note and tell us what you think. Thanks for ten years of rock and roll!

Story behind the song
In the summer of 2004 Russ and I began working on a project creatively called the Summer Project. At the time Subjective Well Being was a four piece and our lead guitarist was gone for the warm season. It was a place where we could work out our more post-punk, electronic ideas that did not fit the more pop stylings of our band at that time. Russ said that he had this guitar riff that he believed to sound like the Smiths and he recorded it, and I played a bass part and my brother, Taylor, played some drums on it. And it sounded really, really good. However, the recording equipment that we were using fried the song and we lost it forever. Suffice it to say we were pissed, but put it out of minds because we were lazy. About a year later we were working on a songs for the new three piece incarnation of Subjective Well Being (our lead guitarist quitting and moving on) and we remembered this song and played it. While we were jamming it one day we tried to figure out a bridge and Taylor slowed down to hear what we were doing, and I began playing with him in that tempo, and Russ followed suit. It was the first time we really let a song breathe and calm down at that point and we kept it, and it became the way we would arrange bridges a lot from there on it: just playing it repeatedly until we found something that we thought fit. Lyrically, at the time, I was writting stray lines and piecing things together as I saw fit. This is one of the ones that I think turned out the best. It's about how we can be haunted by the past to the point to where the future and present become of no importance. ---Ben
Lyrics
To our dearly beloved The one's still left behind Left standing in the rain But never leaving my mind I left a small piece of my teeth On that street A pint of blood and brusies From my ankles to my feet To out dearly beloved In body, spirit or mind I lost every piece of grace These lights are blinding my eyes Left everything I had These expectations on my back Everything I ever wanted Surrounding our eyes in black To our dearly beloved Smashed and face down I can't quite remember Everyone was screaming loud I left my heart in your head The one place I made sense When I thought I found my voice I got laryngitis To our dearly beloved Basking in the glow I haven't felt comfortable So it's time for me to go I left everything I had It's bound and dragged to Hell I'm as lost and f*** ed as always But I hope you're doing well CHORUS ashes to ashes and dust to dust forgive me please i'm beginning to rust one step ahead three steps behind your foot is in the grave stepping over mine
