A few weeks a go we went with a friend of ours to look around the Intramurous area of Manila - it is the old Spanish bit. As we were walking along we cam across a few of the afforementioned strays who were chasing about a bit round the street. One of the kids knocked in to our friend in a very "i'm just playing not picking your pocket kind of way". So not so bad but he does have the whole street to play in (lucky devil) - the funny bit was a bloke sitting on some steps outside a building nearby who called out:
"Stop it....(thoughtful pause) street children!"
and when you think about it, that kind of says it all.
