Story behind the song
During a trip to Ireland in 2005, I traveled to an ancient mound site, a burial place for ancient Celts, and among many sensations I felt an overwhelming sense of hardship and sorrow there, ....ain't never goin' back
Lyrics
Deep in the Cairn I flew across an Ocean, Mountain to Mountain, just to see that the pain inside is fading now, I've claimed my liberty… maybe I found another way to turn and watch the tide with my lover’s arms around me until my spirit came alive A wind is howling, I can hardly stand, I'm so cold, the mist is falling all around. They say the sun rose on your face, but my eyes were stinging in the rain in every stone and every branch, now Winter’s flown, it’s Spring again Every road I’ve ever taken has only brought me back again I know this time it’s over, I’ve seen the end I’ll never travel back to wander, so deep in the cairn, deep inside the cairn I’m humbled in this wilderness, slipping, time and time again, searching for words to say when I find you, in the cairn and all I wanted you to know, is whoever we ever were, we’re not those people now and it’s over They say a whirlwind girl, a caillagh went leaping in a dream she let the stones fall in your eyes then she slipped and lost her life and now she’s wrapped in your arms forever but I am gone… Every road I’ve ever taken has only brought me back again I know this time it’s over, I’ve seen the end I’ll never travel back to wander, so deep in the cairn, deep inside the cairn They say the sun rose on your face, but my eyes were stinging in the rain in every stone and every branch, now Winter’s flown, it’s Spring again Every road I’ve ever taken has only brought me back again I know this time it’s over, I’ve seen the end I’ll never travel back to wander, so deep in the cairn, deep inside the cairn © 2005 Teone Reinthal
