Artist picture
Acoustic songs about love, life, and funny stuff like almost dying. Gotta laugh, don't do no good to cry...
I'm just a guy who has spent the last too many years trying to make a living. My music has been a hobby. I write songs about things that happen to me, or have happened to me, and try to keep things simple.

Story behind the song
The first verse happened pretty much as written! The rest is a rehash of then-recent history.
Lyrics
SIR! Copyright 2004 Edward E. Null Tall and tan and pretty, twenty-two or three I’d say. Hair of gold and eyes of blue, she took my breath away. I flashed her my best smile as my heart began to stir. She handed me my groceries, said, “Have a nice day, Sir.” CHORUS Sir! Almost as bad as S.O.B. Sir! When did this happen to me? I’m only used to hearing “Sir” from beggars and police. Disconcerting, if I say the least. Tears fogged my bifocals, and I could hardly see. I’d a’ run except for the arthritis in my knees. I made it to the parking lot and moaned about my luck, And cussed that snot-nosed kid who almost ran into my truck! CHORUS Damn! He can’t be old enough to drive. Damn! His dad should skin that boy alive! Seems like young folk don’t respect their elders anymore. I could swear I heard “Old Timer” as the pedal hit the floor. I can take the mornings when it’s painful to get up, And both hands hurt so bad that I can’t hold a coffee cup. When the weather turns I can recall the fun I’ve had— That little girl who called me “Sir”, hell, I could be her dad! CHORUS Sirs Elton, Mick, and Paul are all on Oldies radio. Sir is what you say when it’s respect you want to show. With one foot in the fast lane, one in AARP, I’m the Centrum Silver geezer noone thought I’d live to be. I’m the Centrum Silver geezer noone thought I’d live to be! Edward E. Null
