An anti-drug song (alternative hiphop) with a powerful message. (Remember: stay away from drugs - just say no!). I did all the music/production & Russ did the lyrics & vocals.

Retrobass .... Alternative HipHop & Electronica!
Just a one-man band right now. I'll mainly be putting some of my latest experimental tunes up on here (as well as early versions of various things i've been working on) . It'll be interesting to hear what people have to say (both good & bad), so please leave me some feedback here, leave some comments on 'em & rate 'em - cheers! Hope you like my music :)

Story behind the song
This is a little collaboration I did with a local vocalist (Russ. J) last summer (2005). Its an ANTI-drug song with a powerful message. (Remember: stay away from drugs - just say no!). I did all the music/production, arranging, mixing etc. & Russ did the lyrics & vocals. There are some flaws here and there in this track (the timing/mixing etc.) ... mainly because it was a bit rushed, but overall I guess its not bad considering that we made it all in one 3-hour session, I was quite new to ProTools at the time & it was Russ's first attempt at a rap song (he basically freestyled some stuff over the mic in just 2 vocal takes and then I pieced it all together by cutting up the vocals & rearranging them). The guitar parts (clean electric & acoustic) were played live by me too. Its far from being my best work (still needs a lot of polishing) but it might sound pretty good if worked on a bit more. I might re-record a proper version of this song with Rus sometime .... Anyway, tell me what you think of it - look forward to some honest feedback - cheers!
