A song about the love of my life. This song encompasses some trippier elements than I have previously used. There's a lot of experimentation going on here with instruments, compostion, and vocals.

One man, a guitar, and whatever else.
Heath Houston is a songwriter first and foremost. Almost anything you hear on here is based on that aspect of my abilities. As a matter of fact it's the only aspect I consider to be developed to a point where I feel comfortable with it. I'm not an accomplished guitarist, drummer, bassplayer, or singer. I have aspirations, though. I still have a 15 year old kid air-guitaring to Mtv inside me somewhere who wants to be on a stage in front of 10,000 fans, but I'm really very humble at heart. This page is just me and my songs... no one else. Maybe in the future I'll find some like minded individuals to form a band with. I wouldn't mind that. For now, though, it's just me expressing myself. I write songs because I can't imagine not writing songs. I make music because it's part of who I am. I'm making music in my head most all of my waking hours and quite a few sleeping ones as well. I appreciate the feedback and listens that I have been fortunate enough to have been given. Thank you for visiting and feel free to drop me and e-mail if you have any questions.

Story behind the song
The lyrics to this song gave me so much trouble for so long that I almost never finished it. I finally just skipped the first verse and went with it and it worked. There was a line "Hair falling like cinnamon shimmering" in the removed verse, so the phrase "cinnamon shimmering" is actually a left over bit from that verse that I just really liked the sound of. Musically, I was exploring Revolver by The Beatles for about the 100th time and I'm always blown away by the experimentation on that album, especially considering their previous releases of straightforward pop music. I wanted to capture a bit of that for myself. Whether I succeeded or not, I like the finished song. Originally it had a slightly detuned guitar rythm approaching something like the guitar in "Doo doo doo, dah dah dah" by The Police, but in such a way as to be annoying rather than ear-catching. It was sacked in favor of something more properly tuned. Llamas.
Lyrics
clouds break open to blue skies at the shape of her smile just apart from my fingers to hold her with me - for a little while cinnamon shimmering cinnamon shimmering a little while More beautiful than sunrise with a kiss like candy canes in the night she rivals shadow and in my mind she will remain the tonic to my pain Bleeding words come so freely from my unsteady hands catch them lonely and aching my sweet surrender, just hold them in your hands these words are broken with meaning unspoken but for a few (cinnamon shimmering) Valerie angel, this song is my gift to you More beautiful than sunrise with a kiss like candy canes by night she rivals shadow and in my mind she will remain the tonic to my pain cinnamon shimmering cinnamon shimmering a little while cinnamon shimmering (candy cane angel) cinnamon shimmering a little while cinnamon shimmering (Valerie) cinnamon shimmering a little while
