Story behind the song
I am constantly accused of male bashing, etc. (among other things) because of my more heavily opinionated songs. I felt that it might ring true, at least to some degree, so I wrote Some of Them as an 'antidote' if you will, to songs such as "The Men in my Life" and "One Good Woman".
Lyrics

SOME OF THEM:

© 1998 by Lydia Glider-Shelley
Some of them dried my tears,
Some of them helped me face my fears…
Some of them stuck with me through all the years.
Some of them made me cry,
Some of them got me high…
Some of them just taught me how to try.
To them I am indebted for all that I am:
It’s a vicious world sometimes, for those who don’t have anyone.
Some of them made me mad,
Some of them took all I had…
Some of them became family, like my dad.
Some of them took me home,
Some of them let me roam…
Some of them painted seascapes, white with foam.
They are all within me - pieces of my heart,
Everyone I’ve ever known is part of my existence now.
Some of them understand,
Some of them want to lend a hand…
Some of them are musicians in the band.
Some of them want to be free,
Some of them think they really need me…
Some of them are still learning what to be.
This is what I live for, guiding folk through song:
To many, I may seem quite poor, but they would be wrong.
Music is how I speak of all the people that I know,
Healthy and bold, or sick, and meek…
They help others learn and grow.

And so I write
About some of them.
