Story behind the song
My girl and I went to prison for 3 years for trying to rob our way through college. I wanted to write a song from the perspective of standing on that threshold to the unknown, when it would be easy to turn back into the arms of those who want to keep you sterile and sanitary, and taking that leap together...
Lyrics
Bonnie Don’t Go Home Oh the flies in the marketplace they’re buzzing in your ears You can’t swat them forever, I wanna show you what I hear. Hey Bonnie, you know what they say Only the devil would marry us I say when you live at these heights, Of course your life’s precarious Let’s leave fingerprints carina, will you lose that white glove? Bonnie please stay dangerous, it’s your virtue and your love CHORUS There’s something so fragrant About them out to get us They can love us, they can hate us But they cannot forget us Lindsey Kate: Anthony: Bonnie don’t go home I am not afraid I am not a victim I can’t say I’m sorry The gods were singing when I kissed him mmm…grace with the handcuffs on, As Fate like night began to fall Your smile like a centrifuge Hurling excuses to the wall When you lost everything, Bonnie that’s when I could tell You were really something, you gave me hope and you gave them hell! CHORUS There’s something so redeeming About our tragicomic chorus You can love us, you can hate us But you cannot ignore us. I don’t know how your face Kept out the gravity for so long Your eyes are tired, my love But your mouth is still so strong I wonder where you are Can you still sing Prove It All Night? And I want you to know Know like a knife…I’ll prove it all life Bonnie don’t go home…
