Midnight Part 1

This song was literally recorded in the midnight hour on a work night. The time had a strange effect on its direction.

This music was all completely improvised on synthesizers and samplers back in 1983 and 1984, by Arnie Stanton and Tim Fluarty. We thought of it as the dark and foreboding side of "New Age" music. You may be rather surprised about the wide pallete of colors and styles the songs produced. For more music by Arnie Stanton, consider visiting his music page.

Story behind the song
This song for whatever reason, had a more aggressive edge to it. Kind of reminds me how extreme fits of extended anger could lead to psychosis. Listen for the psychotic break about 6 minutes into part 1. I apologize for the low recording quality, but this was one of the songs in the collection that had the most degredation due to time on the tapes. In this case, I was using a Beta Hi-Fi for back-up, and many ugly higher frequency pops and clicks developed on this and a few other songs. I had to filter off a lot of the higher frequencies, and then try to artificially re-build some of it through software.
