This song is basically about mankind losing its mind through constant torture and manipulation.
neurotic regression
Raw and melodic heavy metal out of BC, Oregon.
Neurotic Regression, a band out of Baker City, Oregon has a somewhat strange past. Starting out as only a drummer and bass player, they found the most unlikely guitar player, the drummer's dad. Their CD Rise is very colorful, with the drummer pulling quadruple duty, writing the lyrics, providing the death metal vocals, "some" clean vocals, keyboards, and drumming. The guitar player also pulls triple duty, being the sound engineer, clean vocalist for most of the songs, and guitar player. And who could forget the bass player? That's what he does, but he's good at it!

Story behind the song
I wanted to write an album about humanity's decline and the different stages and perspectives and what mankind would do to escape their inevitable fate.
Lyrics
What have we done to receive this torture? Manic depression consumes all living thought and exhales its agonizing fumes Controlling the masses, hypnotic paranoia The sweet trace of despair looms What have we done to receive this torture? Is there hope for us in waiting to find a reason for our existence? Our fate lies in wait and bleeding Forever never will we know if we have control Mankind's seduction put our fate on trial Our superiors we did offend Foolish resistance, only to be sentenced Neurotic regression is at hand What have done to receive this torture? Is there hope for us in asking for another chance to redeem our ignorance? The calm before the storm unnerving Forever never will we know We've lost control The nails of fate shall infiltrate into this neurotic sleep state Controlling the masses, hynotic paranoia What have we done to receive this torture? What have we done to receive this torture?
