Story behind the song
I originally wrote the riff on my bass when I changed my strings. I transfered it to guitar and turned it into a metal riff. I thought the verse should be sort of a fast metal mixed with some rap. My friend and musical companion Kota and I worked on the song together on acoustic guitars during lunchtime in high school. I wrote lyrics to it one night and although I couldn't rap the words and play the fast metal guitar very well simultaneously, I knew it was gonna rock. We recorded it at Kota's house later that year.
Lyrics
Jesse Waters – J.T.I. (Just Take It)
Verse 1:
This kind of thing’s been going on for years.
This false hope you give me, it’s always leads to tears.
The games you consistently play with my mind
I won’t take them anymore…
(Can’t find a way…)
(A way) outta here, somewhere far and wide,
Where I feel I could go kneel down and hide,
But I know I just can’t keep running away.
The problem isn’t me so I guess I’m here to stay.
Pre-chorus:
What I gotta do, not involving you
Shows everyone that I’m a man. (Man!)
Keep the candle lit, I can handle it
So don’t lend me your hand.
Chorus:
This game is over, I’m getting older
This game is over, it’s getting colder
And I thought you oughta know
Let’s go!
Verse 2:
One day I might be even stronger than you
The fact frightens you, and I think it’s time I enlighten you.
So here’s my instance: I don’t need your assistance
We’d both benefit sans the coexistence.
When it comes to this you underestimate
Using that to try to mold my psychological state.
If you’re still insecure whether or not I can make it,
You can fight it- I’ll break it- Might as well just take it!
Pre-chorus:
What I gotta do, not involving you
Shows everyone that I’m a man. (Man!)
Keep the candle lit, I can handle it
So don’t lend me your (don’t lend me your) hand.
Chorus:
This game is over, I’m getting older
This game is over, it’s getting colder
And I thought you oughta know
JUST TAKE IT! (x4)
Bridge:
Shiver down my spine as I hear your name.
Given forty-five years, couldn’t heal the pain.
Shiver down my spine as I hear your name.
Given forty-five years, couldn’t heal the pain.
Pre-chorus:
What I gotta do, not involving you
Shows everyone that I’m a man. (Man!)
Keep the candle lit, I can handle it
So don’t lend me your hand.
Chorus:
This game is over, I’m getting older
This game is over, it’s getting colder
And I thought you oughta know
JUST TAKE IT! (x2)
Just (Just) Just (Just) Just (Just)
JUST TAKE IT
