Story behind the song
I wrote this song for a friend of mine who, despite being the sweetest girl you will ever know, had been beaten up by life pretty badly. I suppose something more cheerful would have been better, but this just seemed more fitting to the situation.
Lyrics
The sun went out today
Guess the clouds just took their toll
Hearts fade to ashen gray…
They say that pain is just a downpour on your soul
The water’s rising again
Hasn’t been this high in years
Still rains every now and then…
But now the rain’s replaced with a thousand bitter tears
We’re fighting
We’re hiding
We’re crying
And dying
We’re bleeding
And screaming
Such a beautiful rain…beautiful pain
My, how things do change
Even Wind shifts Time’s own sands
The time has come to rearrange…
They say that life’s what happens when you go and make plans
We’re living
We’re learning
We’re praying
And burning
We’re begging
Receiving
Such a beautiful rain…beautiful pain
Nothing is for good
Even pain with time must die
There’s dust where a man once stood…
They say that life’s the slowest sort of suicide
We’re flying
We’re laughing
We’re soaring
Though dying
We’re singing
And bringing
Such a beautiful rain…beautiful pain
