Story behind the song
I wrote the song about a german shephard that belonged to a lady I was renting an apartment from. Many were afraid of him and thought he was senile, but he was really just lonely wand wanted someone to play with him and so I did. He hurt his back one day and despite all our efforts, he was getting worse and in such pain he could not stand or eat. I held his head in my lap as the vet administered the injection and tryed to soothe him as he died right in front of my eyes. The song was born of this intense sadness at the loss of a friend.
