Lyrics
He was always there for me, even when I tried to shut him out. He gave me everything he had. A father’s love without a doubt. I was his pride and joy. Yeah, I was daddy’s little girl. He took his last breath in my arms. And it tore apart my world. I was taking him for granted. Never dreamed that someday he would go. And I just don’t understand it, Why I couldn’t say I loved him so. But I can’t turn back the hands of time, I have to live with my regrets. And it breaks my heart in two, but there’s nothing I can do. I can’t go back and do it over. But if I could I would,- and I wouldn’t- be taking him for granted. Another angry lover’s fight. Another threat to walk away. I always knew he didn’t mean it. I always knew that he would stay. I didn’t tell him how I needed him. I couldn’t swallow that much pride. When I woke up he was gone. He didn’t even say goodbye. And it breaks my heart in two, but there’s nothing I can do. I can’t go back and do it over. But if I could I would,- and I wouldn’t- be taking him for granted

A person's foolish pride oftentimes is regretted later. It's something I believe we all have dealt with and wish we could change. Love this song....the chorus is beautiful, and it teaches valuable lessons in the lyrics. A song that everyone should hear as perhaps there wouldn't be as much guilt after it's too late if people took the time to think about what you're singing about here.
