SKySWiM is the core project name for all musical work by Arnie Stanton. Arnie Stanton has been very involved in creating an eclectic musical blend of classical, electronic, rock, jazz, and other styles. Because of his wide musical background from training and listening, he tends to not stay long with one particular sound, mood, or feel. Arnie creates music meant to evoke deep emotions and strong visual imagery. His lyrics have spiritual overtones, sometimes comforting, but more often, challenging and ominous. He plays trombone, keyboards, sings, and usually talks in the first person, rather than third person tense, as he is doing here. :-) His base of operations is in Torrance, California. The official SKySWiM web page is .

Story behind the song
This song's history is so full of irony, that at least some of it must be told. The original intent of the song was to deal with the inevitable anger and frustrations that occur in friendships, in the most immediate case, coming to terms with the problems of Duane and me working together to write songs. When composing together, egos can really bump, and misunderstandings really can flare into major arguments, and even a breaking apart of the band and friendship. Well, ironies increased when a major band in Germany expressed interest in using the song. Duane and I reluctantly readjusted the song from the friendship angle to the more cliched "love song." We never heard from the German band again, but about 6 months later, I heard KROQ (a local FM station) play a song with not only a similar title, but a similar beat and base line. It was even in the same odd original key (E flat)! It is a strange and uncomfortable feeling to believe that a song of yours was stolen, and somebody was possibly getting widespread credit for something you did. Distrust in certain persons betwen us and the German band entered the picture. This apparent "betrayal" caused me to edit and re-edit this song nearly to death. In fact, I even tried re-naming it to "Misunderstandings" for a while due to what was going on. This version (MSND) is a kind of mix between the original version that the German band originally heard, and some of what I re-did to the song after the "betrayal." One thing that was definitely brought back in this version was the tribal bass tom-tom that drove the original "house" version. I guess that I may never know for sure whether or not it was just a big coincidence about whether or not another band "stole" our song. The group that did the song in question never came out with another song. Could the biggest irony be that bad communication and misunderstanding lead to everything that happened?
Lyrics
Our misunderstanding, it's sad to mention We make no time for good intentions Show some mercy (a cool conjunction) We need to give up our false presumptions Start winning, forget the revolution, do you hear me? New beginnings: The solution for strong communication You say you want a life that's right You try with all of your might But you can't take all control We're from the same mold Look up, there's only one place to go When there's no room left to grow Who needs this bad misunderstanding Give up this revolution, don't hesitate Let's take the time, I knew you would One has mentioned (to keep the peace): "Be quick to hear, and slow to speak"
