This song is unoffically "dedicated" to a former friend who said that I was not a composer unless I could write jazz compositions, basically like he could. This may not be his kind of jazz, but I think that it is close enough.

SKySWiM is the core project name for all musical work by Arnie Stanton. Arnie Stanton has been very involved in creating an eclectic musical blend of classical, electronic, rock, jazz, and other styles. Because of his wide musical background from training and listening, he tends to not stay long with one particular sound, mood, or feel. Arnie creates music meant to evoke deep emotions and strong visual imagery. His lyrics have spiritual overtones, sometimes comforting, but more often, challenging and ominous. He plays trombone, keyboards, sings, and usually talks in the first person, rather than third person tense, as he is doing here. :-) His base of operations is in Torrance, California. The official SKySWiM web page is .

Story behind the song
Power and Glory was somewhat influenced by Angelo Badalamenti's compositions that he wrote for the TV series, Twin Peaks. In his music for Twin Peaks, he takes such things as what I tend to think of as fairly bland 50's bar room jazz combo music, and turns it into deep, subtle, and mysteriously beautiful mood pieces filled with many ominous moments. My piece turned out to be a bit less subtle, and with the "Big Band" era sound instead, but it certainly is not at all your normal jazz composition, when compared to typical "Big Band" arrangement
