Optimistic, yet "anti-anthem" rock with a strong tinge of "spagetti western" overtones.

SKySWiM is the core project name for all musical work by Arnie Stanton. Arnie Stanton has been very involved in creating an eclectic musical blend of classical, electronic, rock, jazz, and other styles. Because of his wide musical background from training and listening, he tends to not stay long with one particular sound, mood, or feel. Arnie creates music meant to evoke deep emotions and strong visual imagery. His lyrics have spiritual overtones, sometimes comforting, but more often, challenging and ominous. He plays trombone, keyboards, sings, and usually talks in the first person, rather than third person tense, as he is doing here. :-) His base of operations is in Torrance, California. The official SKySWiM web page is .

Story behind the song
Take a Step was kind of a reaction against "anthem" songs that seemed to be for shallow and limited causes back in the mid-1980's. It was and still is a challenge to each and everyone to have the courage to "take a step" beyond their comfort zone, and consider what life's most important causes are all about, especially the ones that go beyond this mortal life.
Lyrics
Well here we are Sitting in a big fishbowl. The heart say this, the people say that And I suppose that's just the bare facts We really want to know, yeah What's pokin' at your soul, yeah In fact we really to: Take a Step What's the issue What's goin' on And where will we be When it's all over Whose song will we sing? So, a question or two: What are the needs of the heart? Take from the rich and hand to the poor And why fight such a bloody war? Ya really satisified, yeah? Do ya have the peace of mind, yeah? Well someone say, "Oh, no!"
