The "wild west" is back in the worst way in American culture, and this song tries to point out the problem and solution. The question is, will we tame it before it destroys us?

SKySWiM is the core project name for all musical work by Arnie Stanton. Arnie Stanton has been very involved in creating an eclectic musical blend of classical, electronic, rock, jazz, and other styles. Because of his wide musical background from training and listening, he tends to not stay long with one particular sound, mood, or feel. Arnie creates music meant to evoke deep emotions and strong visual imagery. His lyrics have spiritual overtones, sometimes comforting, but more often, challenging and ominous. He plays trombone, keyboards, sings, and usually talks in the first person, rather than third person tense, as he is doing here. :-) His base of operations is in Torrance, California. The official SKySWiM web page is .

Story behind the song
Stampede was originally inspired by the first spree of "road rage" coupled with actual gunfire from cars, apart from gang activity, back in the late 1980s. We are seeing more and more, the results of having our society over-elevating "individual rights" and "free speech" from our society above all else, fueled by the amoral "survival of the fittest" tautology we all have been forced fed in school. The roots of this so-called "scientific" view go back thousands of years before Darwin, and has been "sugar coated" and incorporated into almost all theories and beliefs today. How much worse will the stampede get? MUCH WORSE, it seems, before it gets better, at least as long as we believe we are the product of highly evolved animals
Lyrics
So many angry eyes makes breathing room seem scarce Ghosts of old have traded robes for business suits It's nothing new, just labels change "Mind over matter" becomes "mind over mind" and "blessed are the fittest, for they shall survive" I'm talkin' me and you The common crew who should know the difference between North, South, Right and Wrong The poison still remains We're in the middle of a stampede the wild west is back We scream and scheme run over other's dreams "Me, Myself and I" we wear it like a silk tie There's a better way to go than this ego strife The cost of being "in" can make you down and out The plot turns into product: loaded guns and loaded minds Some wise guys of the East teach: "two wrongs do make a right so sit back, and transcend make bloodshed 'til the end
