Story behind the song
I began writing "Worthy is the Lamb" based out of Matthew 18:3,10 where Jesus said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven... See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven." My desire is to have that kind of childlike faith that pleases God, to worship in a way that truly is Worthy of God. I was hoping that my faithless moments would be forgotten and that "my angel" would not be prevented from seeing the Father's face. The song soon progressed to a scene in heaven recorded by John in the book of Revelation where angels and elders and living creatures were beholding the glory of God and every creature in heaven and on earth was worshiping Jesus, the Lamb of God, who was the sacrifice for the sin of the world The really awesome thing about this chorus is that it came to me in a dream the day I wrote the verses. It was as if I was hearing it sung in heaven… what a blessing… "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, Worthy is the Lamb! Worthy is the Lamb of all praise, Worthy is the Lamb!" How endlessly fascinating God must be that the angels never cease to worship Him. I suspect that each and every moment a new facet of his never ending wonder is being revealed to them. This definitely sheds light on the glory that awaits those who trust in Jesus. (Daniel and Catherine Lovett)
