A tight original first cut experiment with Soul. If you would like to submit lyrics for the second verse I'll give them a look.

Soul, R&B, Reggae, Swing Beat, New Jack Swing
The band was originally called All In One and was formed in the late 80s. A lot of the songs featured were performed solely by me or by me and a great singer called Michelle. We were heavily into New Jack Swing/hip-hop soul & Funk (Punkfunk), whereas (at the time) the rest of band believed that sort of music was going nowhere and just wanted to do UK soul. I wrote and performed all of the songs myself. A couple of companies attempted to sign us but being an ignorant group of black Londoners we imploded the second the contracts came through the post. I've probably written over 1000 songs and have a high "scrap-rate" because I'm fussy. I only like people to hear songs of mine that I still like a few weeks down the road.

Story behind the song
In 2000 I had just moved house, set-up a recording studio in my loft and had built myself an new PC specifically for music recording. In testing it and using Cubase VST for the first time I came up with this tune. Basically it was played and recorded using a £15 Midi Keyboard hooked up to the Soundblaster Sound Card game port.
Lyrics
Originally (during my improvisation) I used the name Stokely ("I can do you like Stokely") perhaps because I had recently been to see Mint Condition & The Sounds of Blackness in concert and Stokely was in both bands. But as you can see I changed the lyrics to "real slowly". I challenge anyone who likes this tune to submit a second verse because I haven't completed the song. I've been sittting on it for too long and have been to Australia twice, writing whole albums for other artists whilst it's been on ice.
