The original version of this song was written on my last day at work in November 1989 (I phoned in sick). I've re-written and updated it several times since.

The band was originally called All In One and was formed in the late 80s. A lot of the songs featured were performed solely by me or by me and a great singer called Michelle. We were heavily into New Jack Swing/hip-hop soul & Funk (Punkfunk), whereas (at the time) the rest of band believed that sort of music was going nowhere and just wanted to do UK soul. I wrote and performed all of the songs myself. A couple of companies attempted to sign us but being an ignorant group of black Londoners we imploded the second the contracts came through the post. I've probably written over 1000 songs and have a high "scrap-rate" because I'm fussy. I only like people to hear songs of mine that I still like a few weeks down the road.

Story behind the song
It was originally written for the lead singer, Jasmin, around the "Prove Your Loving" hook line she left me to write a song around. Two days later I gave her the finshed song.
Lyrics
I wrote the verses and bridge, but Jasmin wrote the first line of the chorus. It was really about nothing in particular from my point of view, but I wasn't supposed to sing it. Sadly I had to pitch shift my voice to make it sound right on this track because it was supposed to be sung by a female. Despite being a great singer Jasmin only ever got this song right on tape once, on a very early version in which I was probably using my Spectrum computer as a drum machine.
