The Vein, is your ass big enough for us?
Once upon a time, in a small town near London (Harlow) there were five average young boys. These boys came from all over the South East area of England, Stansted, Stortford, Harlow, Swabridgeworth. Now, there's nothing much to do in these towns but to play music and start a band. Not content with just playing, these five young men met and decided to embark on a quest for fame, fortune and fun, (well, minus the fame and fortune). This was their quest, to record and play for people who actually liked their songs. They went down the line of Alternative Rock mixing a bit of everything into the pot to come out with ‘The Vein’. Phils indie and punk background has influenced such tracks as ‘Nothing But This Song’ and ‘Years Gone By’ whereas the metal influences have come from Shane. Lewis and Carl first set off as the emo kids but soon changed their attitude to write songs such as ‘Lay The Table’ and ‘Second Sun’. Eventually, through some begging on hands and knees they made their first recording, (after several failed attempts in Lewis’ bedroom) which was ‘Live @ The Square’. It sounded good, so the boys decided they were going in the right direction and after playing a local one off festival to a sell-out crowd of 700, a debut gig at The Harlow Square, and playing with such bands as 18 Crown 6 and ‘The Community Sing-a-Long’ the boys decided the were ready. After dropping a song here and there and writing a hell of a load more, The Vein are back on the live stage and aren’t coming off for a while.
The Vein are due to release their debut ep on 9/2/06 to coincide with their debut at The Hertford Marquee, this is then followed by (hopefully) a long run in the rock contest at The Harlow Square. The boys have opted for a ‘live’ recording at the studio because they thought that this would best capture the energy expelled when they perform.
