Hi folks. I have added a lot of videos recently. Please take a look!
Hi folks, This site acts as a personal archive of my work. So you'll find my best recordings here as well as some pretty crappy ones. The earliest recordings here were made on simple cassette decks, others were made on mobile phones, some are live recordings made at various gigs over the years, a handful were made in small recording studios, but most of the more recent ones were made at home on a Zoom portable studio, which itself is now rather ancient! If you like a song and want to download it, click on 'Full song info' for that song and you will see the download link. You can also read the lyrics and any background information on the songs that I may have added. All my music is available for free - enjoy :) cheers, Charles

Story behind the song
This is a song based on a story told to me by a fellow hippie during my first visit to India in 1969 when I travelled there overland from London. The picture is the one I used to get my visa to enter Afghanistan that year. That was some trip - through Iran - across the desert - Herat to Kandahar to Kabul - down through the Khyber Pass - through Pakistan into India ...on to Katmandu. Speaking of Afghanistan, I just recently read "The Kite Runner", a brilliant book which speaks of Kabul at about that time.. it was a nice place then... I saw the Buddhas of Bamiyan.. hung out in a great cheap hotel with a lovely garden and floated all day on clouds of Afghani... so much has changed... This recording was made on a simple cassette deck in 1973. It's amazing it survived till now!
Lyrics
O how I wanna go home again Home again - back home Give me a ride - I'll go home again Home again - back home Put me on a train - I'll go home again Home again - back home Put me on a plane - I'll go home again Home again - back home I don't know what I came here for Somebody told me "That's the place to score - where it all comes from" Oh I did everything wrong Now my money's gone - it's all gone Please help me - now I wanna get free Give me some bread to get home again Home again - back home Oh how I wanna go home again Home again - back home I spent three months in a Bombay jail Nobody knew and nobody paid my bail I nearly gave up hope Oh now I'm really broke And it ain't no joke - it ain't no joke Please help me - now I wanna get free Oh I've been lost And I've been paying the cost I've got nothing to show But I'm ready to go Oh how I wanna go home again Home again - back home Give me a ride to get home again Home again - back home...
