Monet, born in Brooklyn, New York was never a stranger to good music. Influenced by such artists as Mary J Blige, Beyonce, and Lauren Hill, she began to develop her own eclectic form of song. She was originally a member of a four harmony group. Because of her ambition and need to tell her own story, Monet decided to go solo. Representing hip-hop, soul, rhythm and blues, and pop became her forte. Some would consider her sound as outspoken yet reserved, real yet theoretical, soft yet firm and intense. The lyrics are as authentic as the artist herself. One hundred percent of Monet’s words come straight from the heart and are based on real life stories. Everything she’s experienced and continues to go through, is portrayed in her music. Not only is she a great singer/songwriter, she’s also quite impressive as a performer. With numerous performances under her belt like New York’s well-known “CLUB SPEED” to smaller venues such as “The Lyric’s Lounge,” and several others, Monet has grown a knack for the stage in general. Monet’s personality can be described as silly, blunt and honest, caring, generous, sometimes difficult, but a respectful individual. Monet is a talent to be reckoned with and someone to definitely look out for. Her debut album, “Truth Be Told” is soon to be released.
