One of the first U.S. punk bands, The Nerves originally wrote and recorded Hanging On The Telephone, which became a huge hit for Deborah Harry and Blondie when they recorded it for the "Parallel Lines" album. After The Nerves disbanded, Paul Collins formed The Beat, also known as Paul Collins Beat.
