It must be my name. Ever since I was a skinny high school kid, I felt certain I was destined to be a guitar legend. Sure, I know that was a long time ago, and these days, I look a lot more like the mortgage-paying father from the suburbs I am than Eric Clapton or Keith Richards. But somewhere deep inside, there's a star musician just itching to get out. It seems to be the birthright of any kid born with the last name of Rocks. (Yes, it's my real name.) OK, so I may not be a guitar legend, or a rock star of any sort. But I've finally gotten around to recording my songs. Most of them were written years ago, but just recorded in the past couple of years. It's me on guitars, Ange on bass, Laura H. on some vocals, Eddie Kamenik on drums, Pietro Stein on keys. Enjoy these songs. Pass them around to your friends. Please, let me know what you think (there's a message board for that, you know!). And you can check out my tunes and those from similar artists on RadioFreeDavid.com (you might think it's mine, but it's not).

Story behind the song
The world at night doesn't always look like it does during the day ...
Lyrics
As I was sitting in the basement The vision reached me slowly I turned to my television set In the glow vibrated eternity And I moved over to the staircase And noticed that it started abruptly And although I had never seen this happen Of a sudden I saw the world clearly Look closely at the things that surround you Meet them without anticipation Let them float their power around you You will know the sensation By the light of the refrigerator Whose coolness warmed me deeply The things danced across the table In the night, they move freely And if you move about the city You might eve see things stranger And if you’ve never seen this happen You might if you wait a little longer Look closely at the things that surround you Meet them without anticipation Let them float their power around you You will know the sensation The gentle purr of the alarm clock Made the bedroom soft and tingly The blankets stripped me of my senses As the house folded down around me And as I moved under those foldings I felt the power of the vision The water bathed me in its flowing And pulled me along in warm confusion Look closely at the things that surround you Meet them without anticipation Let them float their power around you You will know the sensation
