I used to sit outside the steps of my dormroom in Murfreesboro, TN and try to write new songs. It was a tough time with alot of selfdoubt because of the talent around Nashville. My writer's block was so bad, I wrote this song about sitting on the front steps of the dorm and writing a song. Then the bridge is the song I was sitting on the steps trying to write. This song really changed me because it was the first song since whole again that appealed to my peers. Whole Again I wrote in high school. The significance of The moon is high was that the live version was way better, and I sang it every night for almost an entire semester for anyone who would listen at the ATO house at Southern Miss. It really boosted my confidence and made me think about taking it a little more serious since I found that I had an audience. It was what changed me from writing for myself to writing for other people to hear. The songs I got more serious about ended up on the next cd since I already had enough material.
