Traditional country. My friend, Pam, says she can hear Alan Jackson singing it.

Jim Colyer Band is a free-wheeling, ever-changing thing. Members come and go. The one constant is my catalog of songs. I do some of the lead vocals but employ females as I write lots of girl songs.

Story behind the song
I spent New Year's Eve, 1999, alone. It was the last night of the year, the last night of the decade, the last night of the century and the last night of the millennium. The next day, I thought, "Man! That was a rough night to be alone! I wrote this song.
Lyrics
ROUGH NIGHT It's not Christmas It's not New Year's It's no holiday at all As I sit here by my telephone Waiting for your call It's only Tuesday It's nothing special Another night since you've been gone But it's a Rough Night To be alone It's not your birthday 7th of May I checked the calendar again The clock says 7:30 It's my only friend It's just a Tuesday So ordinary Another evening on my own But it's a Rough Night To be alone It's a Rough Night to be alone With just your memory to rely on I count the weeks and the months you've been gone Sitting here reaping seeds that I've sown It's not Christmas It's not New Year's It's no holiday at all As I sit here by my telephone Waiting for your call It's only Tuesday It's nothing special Another night since you've been gone But it's a Rough Night To be alone It's a Rough Night To be alone
