Story behind the song
As a black American born in the united states of America I have a particular interest in the goings on in the black community. Black people are intimately aware of law enforcement coming into the community that they live in and using lethal force. These are some of my reflections on that.
Lyrics
This is about lethal force, and when to use it. Some time in your life you may find the need to defend yourself. The question is how much force to use? Usually we entrust this power to law enforcement, if you have time. What I’m talking about is when somebody is coming at you with a knife, or someone is pulling out a gun, and you have to act quickly, when your life is threatened. After the September 11 this takes on a whole new meaning. Things got a little crazy. Retaliations against Hispanics because they look Arab. Crazy. Anyone with an Arab name. About 1000 people have been detained indefinitely at undisclosed locations throughout the United States. Echoes of the King Alfred plan.
