Story behind the song
wrote it the day Reagan got tossed in the hole on international TV. Played it out in rural IL at Otto's in Dekalb not far from where that shithead was born. Actually visited the place once. I was supposed to be playing a festival opening for Jefferson Airplane, but we got moved to a side stage and then to the day before and then it began to hose rain on us just before the set was to start. So of course I stripped butt ass naked and went to go dance in one of the best lightning storms i've ever seen. Well that pissed off the drummer and he left. Me and Dan Park (check his soundclick site) were left behind and didn't know the way back home. So we tried to drive in the storm and basically got washed off the road and when the rain calmed a flash of lightening illuminated a sign "13 miles to birth place of Ronald Reagan ->" so we felt drawn. The rain stopped and after driving through the 2 block town once, we stopped and slept in Ronald Reagan park on the slide. Took a leak on his birthplace. In the morning we went to the museum and snuck in the back way . Turns out he was born over a bank (the root of all evil). We went in and played his very scary sounding detuned piano and put on some hungarian dances on the victrola. On the way out I asked the teenage girls behind the counter what Reagan's middle name was. They produced a grade school report card with his middle name. How many letters in Ronald ? 6 they said how many in Wilson , 6 they said , how many in Reagan ? then they freaked out and we drove away while they looked out the store front window.
Ronny , Thanks for AIDS and Iran-Contra , and Saddam, and Ossama, and letting the USSR fall in chaos and lose track of their nukes destroying the balance of power and assuring that every country in the world now needs WMD to keep a balance of power against us. Thanx for trickle up economics, the Drug War, the christian coalition,. Thanx for making sure to take back the Panama canal when the president of Panama's airplane "mysteriously" exploded in mid-air just after you took office. Thanx for starting the trend of actors playing president. Being an Injun shooting genocidal killer cowboy on the big screen was a good warm up for ya. Thanx for lying to the public and congress on TV while writing the opposite statements about Iran-Contra in your diaries. Thanx Ronny for all the good times too, like watching you get suffer for 20 years after you left office , while your own political party fought all efforts towards medicine that could find a cure for you. Great smile though ya had
