The John Johnsons
Story behind the song
when i wrote this song i had been trying to write one for about half a year. but everytime it came to the lyrics there was nothing on my mind, til one day i read an article about the golden gate bridge and how popular it was for people who wanted to commit suicide. in the article there was one statement that inspired me. a man who had jumped from bridge, because he had suffered from depression, and survived said: "the moment my feet took of the bridge i knew, that every problem in my life could be fixed, exept the problem, that i had just jumped."
Lyrics
as he saw the light
he realized
it was too late to get up
as he heard the breaks scream
he realized
it was too late for them to stop
and as his life was passing in front his eyes
he realized it hadn't been that bad
and as his life was passing in front his eyes
he knew that he could mend his problems
he knew that somehow he could solve them
and the only thing that couldn't be undone
was the train about to come
as she was about to fly
she reached her hands out to the sky
and counted the stars
counting one for every soul that's innocent
and one for every heart that didn't know
and as her life was passing in front her eyes
she remembered all the people that she loved
and as her life was passing in front her eyes
she knew that when she hit the ground
a family had to be found
to raise her child that lay at home in bed
and didn't know that she was dead
and the train stood still
and the bodies were found
the police investigated
the spectators gathered round
but when the funeral is over
and the gravediggers are done
life goes on, life goes on
i don't know why your leavin'
i'm sure you have a reason
but don't tell me you're better off this way
cause this is too easy
now that everyone's crying for you
is this what you wanted
just once to be noticed
and not to be confronted
with all the sadness you leave
all the anger, all the grief
don't tell me your better off this way
it's just too easy.
