Two Family Guys with not nearly enough time on their hands.
We're Jeff Oxford & Tim Perrythe Oxford-Perry Project a couple of aspiring Grand Rapids, Michigan songwriters. Tim is the word guy and Jeff cranks out the music and studio production. We're both family guys, and for the most part our music has its origins in the maelstrom that is family life in the 21st century. The Basement Bytes is actually a collection of songwriting demos. We're not really interested in being performers, per se and would be quite content to let others record our material. In the meantime, The Basement Bytes stands as our musical kick-at-the-cat. Acoustically, basements aren't exactly the perfect place to record. But for creating, jamming and storytelling, they do just fine. We are pleased to present this home-built, computer-recorded, cellar-chilled musical chronicle for your listening pleasure. We hope you enjoy The Basement Bytes.

Lyrics
Verse 1: I was makin’ time on the interstate, A bit behind, but not too late The sun was shining, I was feelin’ good. I was diggin’ the rhythm beneath my wheels, But the gauge was hot, I said “What’s the deal?” When I saw a puff of white come from out my hood. Verse 2: Well I let out a curse and set my jaw, I was pretty cooked, but the deal was raw My patience clearly running in the red. My engine now commenced to whackin’, Chuggin’ hard yes really clackin’, But I saw salvation just ahead. Chorus 1: (The sign said) Dewey, Soakum… and Howe, Vehicle Repair If you’ve got auto troubles, come on in, we’re always there. We’ll get you back on the road, we’ll lighten your heavy load We’re Dewey Soakum… and Howe, Vehicle Repair Verse 3: He said, “Your muffler bearings are clearly shot, That’s why your engine’s running hot And your shock absorber filter doesn’t fit. Your fuel pump needs a new cooling fin, Your suspension joints are suckin’ wind. And I’ll need reversible pliers to get to it.” Verse 4: “The lug nuts on your radiator Are messin’ with your alternator Your fuel injector just won’t hold a charge. The gasket on your ignition coil Is completely gone its blowing oil Guess that’s what you get for livin’ large.” Chorus1: Dewey, Soakum… and Howe, Vehicle Repair If you’ve got auto troubles, come on in, we’re always there. We’ll get you back on the road, we’ll lighten up your heavy load We’re Dewey Soakum… and Howe, Vehicle Repair Dewey, Soakum & Howe cont’ Timothy A. Perry © 2003 Verse 5: Well when they totaled up the bill, I laid my plastic on the sill He said, “We’re a cash and carry enterprise.” So they put a lien upon my house, And if I didn’t pay they’d take my spouse I was a happy meal that come up short of fries. Bridge: Back when I was a younger colt, I learned to spin a wrench and crack a bolt Changing points and plugs was just a breeze. But when it came to cars so new, I really didn’t have a clue That I was only low on anti-freeze. Chorus 2: They’re Dewey, Soakum… and Howe, Vehicle Repair If you’ve got auto troubles, you ought not be in there. They can get you on the road, relieve your wallet’s heavy load They’re Dewey Soakum… and Howe, Vehicle Repair.
