Lyrics
goodbye
VERSE 1: everybody has to say goodbye at some point in their lives/ it could possibly be when a loved one of theirs dies/ or when a good friend, gets on a plane and flies/ away, not to be seen for a long time, say/ maybe a couple of months, or a couple of years/ who knows, but I know/ that there will always be tears/ when we have to confront, one of our deepest fears/ which is death, which never brings cheers/ and whenever we say goodbye to one of our peers/ or a loved one that we hold oh so very dear/ then it’s always hard, to face up to the facts/ that their gone, and they’re not coming back/ and it’s so sad, how many people die every day/ you just wanna yell at God, and say “Let them stay!”/ but unfortunately they can’t, this just seems to be the way/ we won’t stay here forever, we’ll all die someday
HOOK: why do they have to say goodbye…
Why did you have to let them die/ why did you have to make them cry/ why do they have to wipe tears from their eyes/ why do they have to say goodbye
VERSE 2: there’s so much death in this world that it gets hard to take/ bombing fliers, suicide divers, this world’s got a huge death rate/ and it’s sad that lot of deaths are caused from guns fuelled by hate/ and it’s sad that a lot of deaths are caused by drunk drivers who stayed up late/ skip the Simpsons, watch the news, and you’ll see the tragedies/ 9/11, SARS, and videos of bombers plotting strategies/ some of it’s not fate and some of it’s hate, either way, it’s sad to see/ but most of us just smile sheepishly, and say “I’m glad it wasn’t me.”/ that’s the wrong way to respond, you gotta look on them with empathy/ what if it was your little kid who was starved to death by the age of three/ see, it’s so sad, so please, at least, have a little ounce of sympathy/ cuz it happens to everyone- it’ll happen to you and it’ll happen to me/ some deaths were accidental, some deaths were planned to be/ some deaths were from an argument in a bar, over a sum of money/ whatever the case is, it’s a loss of human life/ to laugh would not be nice/ what if you were the victim of the strife
REPEAT HOOK
BRIDGE: yeah I know it’s sad now, but we’ll seem them again/ we’ll see them up in heaven when our time’s at it’s end/ we’ll live forever, if we all believe/ up in God’s house, what a sight it’ll be/ there’ll be no more death, no more saying goodbye/ no more sadness, you won’t have to cry/ cuz heaven’s gonna be a lot better than here/ we’ll live in happiness, and we’ll live with no fear!
SECOND HOOK: we’ll see them again, when our time comes…
REPEAT BRIDGE
