Sydney Singer songwriter
I am a songwriter and I write because it is there and I can. I write a mixture of silly love songs and social comment as I think we need both.
Story behind the song
This was inspired by Sherrylwho gave me the hook and the story
Lyrics
I Never Thought
(verse 1)
It always happens to someone else It won’t happen to me
I never realised just how, fragile we can be
I cruised upon my luck and not much else
Happy with my life pleasing myself
Well I never thought, I’d see the day
Where I’d be taught in such a way
Just how precious life can be
Oh no
(chorus)
When the shocks of life, strip the veneer away
Some people cry, some people pray
But I never thought I’d live to see the day
when I’d take a deep breath, turn around and say
Oh I never thought he’d live to see this day.
(verse 2)
Nighttime watching TV Feeling someone else's grief
I never realised just how, painful life can be
My luck ran out just like all gamblers must
Dealing with my world turning to dust
And I never thought, I’d rue the day
When I’d be caught in such a way
And how frightening life can be
(Chorus)
When the shocks of life, strip the veneer away
Some people cry, some people pray
But I never thought I’d live to see the day
when I’d take a deep breath, turn around and say
I never thought he’d live to see this day.
(outro)
Oh I never thought he’d live to see this day
