Dj Boycott – Ground Battle01 - Against an enemy far Stronger than us.
This is for night battles. With this theme I wanted to create a scary, suspense, and militaristic environment.
You land with your Skyranger. Your mission is to intercept and kill all evil aliens that you encounter. You have fought many battles but you have never fought against a extraterrestrial force that is far beyond your powers. This time you will have to protect a whole city against their evildoing.
As you exit the Skyranger your follow the solider that is running in front of you until you spot a creature that you have never seen before. You stop, lift your rifle to aim at it, and as you do, the fellow solider next to you gets hit by its mighty weapon. You turn your head to see him lying dead on the ground. You automatically pull the trigger and empty the whole clip on it. But nothing, out of nervousness you missed every single shot and it is still standing. It turns its head towards you. There is no time to think now. You reach for your belt for another clip, but somehow your hands are shaking and you drop the full clip onto the ground. You duck down to grab it, and as you do, the plasma beam that thing just fired barely misses you. As you are lying on the ground reloading your rifle, you hear screams of your x-com comrades being fired at and killed. You manage to escape the blaze of this confrontation and find yourself alone in an alley wondering how you managed to escape death so easily. But for now, you just sit there for a moment while leaning onto the cold soggy wall. Your rifle is loaded but somehow you are reluctant to get up and get back to the battle field. But nonetheless you get up and walk back to the previous confrontation site to find out that most of your squad is dead. You also realize that some of you survived, but where they went you don’t know, you know that they didn’t bail out on you because the Skyranger, the ship you landed with, is still there. Now you start looking for that thing again. And as you do, all the memories of your past come onto your mind. You remember how happy you used to be before the war. But now this is another world for you, because you are at war indeed, a war that perhaps cannot be won. All these thought flow through your mind as you search for that thing that killed most of your squad, until finally you spot it again. You point your rifle at it again, and shoot. This time you hit it and it falls to the ground. Then you spot one of your squad members joining you from your right. You don’t remember the last time you were so happy to see another human being. But suddenly more aliens keep popping up, and you end up in yet another shootout with them, until you run out of ammo for your rifle. You take cover again, leaning against the corner perpendicular to the battle scene. You turn your head to the right and see the Skyranger. You realize that you can jump into the Skyranger and escape, but then a thought starts running through your mind: “Dead will be a blessing if I should fail in this mission”. You reach for your pistol and turn your head to the right to see your x-com comrade looking at you and smiling, as if he exactly knew what went through your head a second ago. You get up and start walking towards the aliens last position with your gun pointed towards its in case it pops out while your comrade walks step by step with by your side….
