Story behind the song
We wanted to write a full out ska song, because we didnt have one yet. So we started writing music, and after that I wrote some lyrics late at night in my bed. Well after a few months of ignoring the song, I finally came back to it and realized that the music sucked, but the lyrics were great. So I kept the lyrics and we completely re-did the music to the song. As you can tell after a quick listen, it has much improved. Lyrically, the song is about trying to distinguish yourself from the media and from society, and being a free-thinking independant. If that means that you have to be stranded all alone, then so be it
Lyrics
I don't want to go Yet I don't want to stay Don't want to be alone But still stay the fuck away Don't want to be a follower To everything I see Do things the way I want to Follow my own beliefs The media is the pied piper for the kids today Put them all into a trance, then they lined up all dazed Tell what to listen to, eat, drink, breathe, wear and buy Take away their life and money, don't ask how and why So I'll stand stranded all by myself But still better off than everyone else Cause I think for myself I don't want to wake up So I never go to sleep I've been getting fed up Yet the world's taking a leap Physically I'm lazy Mentally I'm still the same But at least I think for myself Don't play into media's game Where will our generation be in years to come I guarantee the majority will be on streets as bums Wasted youth on seedless fruits, it was for a lost cause And the media shows no signs of taking a pause So I'll stand stranded all by myself But still better off than everyone else Cause I think for myself I'd rather be stranded then conform into the group Yah, I'd rather be stranded then conform into the group I'd rather be stranded then conform into the group Yah, I'd rather be stranded then conform into your racist fucking group
